Week One: Practice
Prompt One: Read the article, below, about one professor and education expert who believes that grammar and spelling should not be taught in public schools. While reading the article, feel free to take notes on a Microsoft Word Document of anything you find interesting or important.
Write one page or three paragraphs either agreeing with Sugata Mitra and giving support why schools should not teach grammar or spelling, or disagreeing with Sugata Mitra about why schools need to require grammar and spelling education.
Include an introduction, at least three pieces of support for your decision, and a conclusion. If you use support, make sure you explain where you got it from (i.e. the article, a teacher, or an internet address). I included the literacy PowerPoint for reference if you would like to use it.

Prompt Two: A narrative is a story written from your perspective, typically about your experiences. I want to hear all about Lakeview and your first week of the school year. I want to hear about your team, your teachers, the classes you're taking this year, what clubs or intramurals you want to be a part of, and everything else that comes with a new school year. Please write a one page or three paragraph narrative about the first week of school. But to make it a worthy challenge to my literate and verbose students, there's one challenge. You cannot use the letter H in the entire narrative. You cannot simply leave it out (such as writing te instead of the), you cannot make the sentences incorrect (for example: I went to place instead of I went to the school), and you cannot use slang (for example writing "da" instead of "the".
